Vera Mae Ingram

New Palestine, Indiana – Vera Mae (Brown) Ingram passed away on September 19, 2023, comforted by her family. Vera was born in Daleville, Indiana, on January 21, 1929, to Arnold and Maggie (Lykins) Brown. She was 94 years old.

Vera married the love of her life, Loyd Clifford Ingram, on November 30, 1946, and raised three children with him until his passing in 2018.

Vera also went to school and received her nursing certificate in 1962, going on to have a long and fulfilling career as an LPN for many, many years.

When not working, Vera found joy in crafting jewelry or hunting for bargains at yard sales. She and Loyd maintained a home in Florida and greatly enjoyed spending the winters down there with their friends and family that would come to visit.

Vera’s true passions in life, beside her family, were traveling and Christ. She and Loyd would travel all over the world, from China to Samoa. Her familiar refrain after getting home from another vacation abroad, was “Where are we going next?”. Heavily involved in her church, Vera would always bring her faith with her in these travels.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Vera is preceded in death by her great-grandchild Audrey Myers, brother Phillip Brown, and many other beloved extended family members.

Vera is survived by her children Dr. Timothy Alan Ingram (Rose), Diana Hoy (Rex), and Debbie L. Dreske (Bob); grandchildren Matthew Hoy (Danielle), Caroline Myers (Frederick), Crissa Mulkey (Gregory), Joy Stala, Dawn Keller (Jason), Danny Stala, Spencer Dreske and Jay Dreske (Kara); great-grandchildren Stella Myers, Lila Myers, Abby Dreske, Ava Dreske, Nathan Mulkey, Kate Mulkey, Jackson Hoy, Violet Hoy and Oliver Hoy .

Family will gather to receive visitors at New Palestine Bible Church (5954 West 300 South, New Palestine, Indiana) on Monday, September 25, 2023, from 9 am – 11 am. Funeral services will follow at 11 am. Burial will take place at 2:30 pm at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery (Junction South High Banks Rd and W 250 S Rd, Daleville, Indiana).
