Velma O'Hair Dawes

Velma O'Hair Dawes, 92, passed away on May 25, 2012. She was born on November 2, 1919 in Greencastle, Indiana to the late Ernest and Nettie O'Hair. She worked at Western Electric/A.T. & T. for 34 years. Velma and her late husband, Carrell G. Dawes owned the Panda Restaurant at Ohio and Meridian in the early 60's. She was a member of Burge Terrace Baptist Church. Survivors include her son Gene and daughter – in- law Karen, 2 grandsons, John Paul(Leslie) and Stephen(Kim), five great grandchildren, Peter, Lauren, Lydia, Hunter, and Taylor; sisters: Ada Craver, Doris Smith, brothers: Jim O'Hair, Reece O'Hair. She was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence O'Hair. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 4:00 PM at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street. Visitation will be held on Tuesday prior to services from 2-4 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Burge Terrace Baptist Church, 9345 Brookville Rd., Indianapolis, IN.
