Vanada Jean Burba

Vanada Jean Burba entered God’s eternal glory on March 22, 2022. She was born on Friday, February 26, 1937, in rural Green County, Kentucky, to Stanley and Valeria Thompson. The fourth of ten children born on the Thompson family farm, she attended Bloyds Bluff School through 6th grade when family illness required her to work and cook on the farm. On her 18th birthday, she married Korean War Veteran Warren D. ” Red” Burba in 1955. Red preceded her in death January 26, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her first-born son, Donald C. Burba, March 18, 2000.

“Jean” was a homemaker, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a Fine and Faithful Servant to her Lord Jesus Christ.

Those left to cherish her memories include Red & Jean’s sons Randall Burba (Shellie), Rick Burba (Pam), Joey Burba (Donetta) and Phil Burba (Jennifer); 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild whom she loved very much. Vanada Jean is also survived by her brother, Marion Thompson (Linda); sisters-in-law, Bonnie Thompson, and Karen Thompson; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A special thanks to Stephanie Smith who helped us stay connected to Mom during COVID, and ultimately became a great friend to our family. In addition, the family would like to acknowledge the team with Kindred Hospice, and the staff at Plainfield Health Care Center, Brooke Knoll Village and Lakeview Manor for their kindness and support throughout the years.

First Visitation will be Monday, March 28, 2022, from 4pm-8pm at Flanner Buchanan Funeral Home, Floral Park, 425 North Holt Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46222.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday March 29, 2022, with Visitation at 10 a.m.

Interment at Floral Park Cemetery.
