Urban (Pete) Uebelhoer

Urban L. (pete) Uebelhoer of St.Petersburg,FL. passed peacefully on Aug.10,2023. He was born to Katherine and Silas Uebelhoer on June 2,1921. He and his brother John (deceased) grew up in Huntingburg, IN. After graduating in 1938 from high school, he enrolled and graduated from Indiana University in 1942. He entered the US Navy at Great Lakes Naval Air Station. He was in the Seebees and attained the rank of Lieutenant-commander in supply corps. He was sent to Okinawa, Guadalcanal and the Phillipines until the completion of WWII. He returned to Indianapolis and worked for the Ernst & Young accounting firm. He joined Tire Service Company in 1948 as an accountant. He married his wife of 73 years, Irma Anslinger, on Feb.4,1950. They had 2 sons, Gary and Tom ( Kande, deceased). They moved to Van Wert,Ohio in 1952 where he was employed at National Seal Corporation and was promoted to chief accountant and office manager. They returned to Indianapolis in 1956 where he started, as an accountant, for Inland Container Corporation, and through promotions held the position of SR.Vice-President of finance and at times treasurer and vice president of Georgia Kraft Corporation. In 1978, Inland was acquired by Time,Inc. and in 1981 he was promoted to assistant treasurer of Time. He and Irma moved to New York, and he worked at Time for 6 years as treasurer and then vice-president of investor relations until he retired in May 1987. He was on the board of Junior achievement of Central Indiana, president and founding director of the Indianapolis Economic Development Commission, and director and treasurer of the Indianapolis Childrens’ Museum. Together, they moved to St. Petersburg to retire. We want to thank the staff at the Westminster Palms assisted living facility for their care and kindness in caring for Pete.
