Tracey Matthew Ellis, a loving father, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Westfield, Indiana, on November 27, 2025, at the age of 54.

Tracey was known for his easy smile and the way he could talk to anyone. He had a natural ability to make people feel comfortable almost instantly. Neighbors often joked that he and his dog Izzy were the neighborhood’s welcome crew, always ready with a friendly conversation.

He loved RC cars. He rarely missed a chance to cheer on the Colts or IU football, and he enjoyed being outside whenever he could. Whether he was walking his dogs or taking a spontaneous drive, he found happiness in simple moments. He especially loved road trips to Florida, as much for the drive as for the destination. Tracey also had a real talent for mechanical work and could take apart just about anything on a car and put it back together again with ease.

Above all, Tracey loved his son, Tyler, who was his pride and his greatest joy. Those who knew Tracey understood that his devotion to his son never wavered, and every choice he made was rooted in his desire to be a good father.

Tracey spent much of his career in the insurance industry, where he earned a reputation for his knowledge. At one point, he led a team of more than thirty people across central Indiana and was respected by colleagues.

Tracey’s humor and kindness left a lasting mark on those who knew him. While his life ended far too soon, the memories he created will continue to live on through the people he loved.

Tracey is survived by his son, Tyler Ellis; his brother, Tom Ellis of San Diego, California; his sister, Tonna Ellis of Carmel, Indiana; and his dogs, Izzy and Forest. He was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Ellis; his mother, Carolyn Ellis; and his eldest brother, Timothy Ellis.

We take comfort in knowing that Tracey is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.

Family, friends, and neighbors are invited to a Celebration of Life on Thursday, December 11, 2025. The service will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by a gathering from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan, 4180 Westfield Rd, Westfield, Indiana. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in support of his son, Tyler, are welcome and will be directed to his college fund. Donations may be sent to the funeral home address and will be forwarded to Tyler directly.
