Tonya Zorine Corey

Tonya Zorine Corey, 67 of Mooresville, Indiana, passed away on July 20th, 2024. She was born on April 21st, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Landis (Bucky) Smith, and Darlene (Knox) Alexander.

Tonya leaves behind to treasure her memory, her son, Shane Corey; grandson, Michael Mize/Corey; brothers, David Smith, Dwayne Smith, and Landis "Bucky" (Melissa) Smith; sisters, Terrie (Mike) Synesael, Tammie Branam, Tina (Roy) Walden, and Twyla Hale; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; Uncle Kenneth (Butch) Knox; and Aunt Roberta aka Bertie (Perry) Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael L. Corey; father, Landis Smith, Jr.; mother, Darlene (Knox) (Smith) Alexander; and stepfather, Harlis Alexander.

Despite the challenges of being confined to a wheelchair, Tonya was a lovable and engaged individual who cherished connections to family and friends. You rarely saw her without a smile. She maintained an active interest in the lives of those she cared about and seized every opportunity to visit with loved ones. Tonya had a passion for nurturing life, evident in her hobbies which included maintaining aquariums, feeding birds, and her dog Roo. Her green thumb brought both beauty and joy to her and those who visited her home. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 11 am till 1 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park. Service will be Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 1 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park. Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lovability (Kellsie). And all the caretakers that provided care for Tonya.
