Todd Nicholas Trefts

December 20, 1988 — July 19, 2022

Lafayette, Indiana

Todd was born in Indianapolis, IN on December 20, 1988.  During his childhood, he grew up in Avon, Indiana and graduated from Avon High School.  Sometime after that, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.  He was a (HT) Hull Maintenance Technician.

He completed boot camp training at the Great Lakes Naval Academy.  After graduating U.S. Navy A-School, he was assigned to the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75).  Todd was deployed on his ship for 10 months and went halfway around the world.  He served his country well.

A few years later, Todd married Mallory (Patterson) Trefts and he adopted her daughter, Lennon, and they had a son, Crosby.  They divorced a few years later.

All of Todd’s family and friends knew that Todd would do most anything for anyone, but it would have to be in the afternoon because he was not an early morning riser.  Todd had a quick wit and a great sense of humor, but his best trait by far was his dry sarcasm.  You had to have some thick skin to take it, but he always meant it with affection.  His life was cut short, and we don’t know why, but Garry thought that God needed a comedian because a few of his close friends and family who have gone before that needed to be entertained.

Todd is survived by his father and stepmother, Garry Trefts and Kathy Reynolds, biological mother and stepfather, Mary and Wes Weaver, mother and stepfather, Linda and Greg Imboden, biological father and stepmother, Brian Combs and Tracy Combs, daughter, Lennon Trefts, son, Crosby Trefts, brothers, Bryan Whitehead and Michael Whitehead, and sisters, Christana Vaal, Victoria Vaal, Brittney Combs, and Tessa Combs.

The family requests two things:

On Wednesday, in honor of Todd, please wear Notre Dame or IU attire and bring sunglasses!
