Tina S. Callaway, 67, of Cicero, IN died August 10, 2012 after a short, courageous battle with gastric cancer.
She was born on July 31, 1945 in New Castle, Indiana to Nathaniel Rust and Suanna (Cummins) Wasson. Tina graduated from New Castle High School and attended Franklin College & Ball State. She received an Associate Degree from IUPUI. She worked in the health care industry with her last position being operations manager of Lab Corporation in Indianapolis with 13 years of service.
Tina married her high school sweetheart, G. Richard Callaway, on August 20, 1967 and she was a devoted mother to their three daughters. She was leader of Bible Study Fellowship and a volunteer for the Crisis Hot Line and Dress for Success. She served as President of her children's PTO and manager and board member of Carmel Soccer Club. She loved water skiing, quiet mornings with coffee and the family dog, Dazy. She was always the loudest cheerleader at her children's sporting events.
Tina was preceded in death by her father and mother; step-father, William E. Wasson; her oldest brother, Paul Rust; and her father-in-law, George M. Callaway.
She is survived by her husband G. Richard Callaway of Cicero; three daughters, Stacy L. (Kenn) White of Apex, NC, Stephanie S. (Jamie Jones, PhD.) Callaway, PsyD. of Chicago, and Courtney A. (Alexander) Thompson of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Sydney and Sophia White of Apex, and Amelia and Juliana Thompson of Indianapolis; mother –in-law Helen L. Callaway; brother-in-law, Robert E. Callaway (Sheree) of Athens, TN; special nephew and niece Matthew (Carla) Callaway (daughter Lauren); brothers, Dale Rust of Luray, VA and Barry (Shirley) Rust of New Castle; Linda Callaway, Athens, TN.
Services will be held on Tuesday, August 14 at 10 AM at Flanner and Buchanan- Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Drive, Carmel, IN. Visitation will be on Monday, August 13 from 4-8 PM at the funeral center, and also from 9 AM until service time on Tuesday.
