Timothy T. Hall, Tim, as we all knew him, of New Palestine passed from this life on August 31, 2016. Tim was born May 2, 1945, the son of Marijane and Wayne Hall.
Tim is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Diane. He is also survived by his sister, Cindy Whicker; two nephews, Stephen Jump and Brad Whicker; two nieces, Rebekah Thompson, and Lisa Wade; also seven great nephews and nieces. Tim is also survived by a multitude of friends. All will miss him greatly.
Tim was a graduate of the University of Evansville and received a Masters of Arts in Teaching from IUPUI. He was a life-long educator, teaching math and coordinating computer instruction at Creston Middle School in Warren Township. Tim was active in national, state and local teacher’s associations. He was president of the Warren Education Association and also served on the ISTA Board of Directors during his career in education. He was instrumental in leading and instructing his peers in the use of new computer technology as it evolved and developed for the educational process as we know it today. Tim was always involved with the school and the students. During his years at Creston, Tim was a coach for the middle school wrestling team, and also worked with the students as the photography sponsor for the yearbook. Shortly before and after retiring from Creston, he taught at the University of Indianapolis and IUPUI, continuing to lead and instruct new advances in computer technology.
Tim’s long-time love and involvement with nature began with the Boy Scouts of America. His scouting experiences started when his mother became a Den Mother for a group of cub scouts and continued until he reached the pinnacle of scouting by earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He received additional honors and awards during his many years as camp counselor at Camp Belzer Boy Scout Camp. The last few years he worked as Waterfront Director. At that time, he and Diane lived in a small travel trailer at the camp for a few summers after their marriage.
Tim was a powerful role model not only for his many students but also for his family and extended family, the Wrights, and many countless friends. It was important to Tim to be available and present for events in daily lives as well as special events such as birthdays, graduations, and weddings
Tim’s avocation was photography. He received many ribbons and awards for his artful photography at the State Fair, Riley Days, and other photographic exhibitions and competitions. Tim and Diane traveled all over the United States by car. His camera was always the first bag to be packed. He shared his glorious photos and his passion for nature with us all. After retiring, he and Diane traveled to Alaska, Europe and Asia for many more adventures.
Tim shared a love of music with Diane, and never missed a concert to support her with his presence for her own performances and for programs given by her elementary school students. That love led to friendships, adventures and more photos and also further travel opportunities.
Tim was an active member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church for 45 years. His most recent responsibility was serving on the Finance Committee.
His positive attitude and great smile won the hearts of all he touched. All of us still here will miss his calming presence, his smile and support and love.
