Timothy Loyd White, 62, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died on June 7th at his longtime home due to complications from ALS. Tim was born December 10, 1960, in Carrollton, Missouri, to the late Thomas C. White Jr. and the late Bernice (Hitzemann) White. He grew up in Norborne, Mo., and attended Norborne public schools through high school. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Missouri, Rolla, and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.
Tim married the love of his life, Kathleen McDonald, on November 17, 1990. They were blessed with three daughters, twins Mary Ann and Christine Marie, both of Indianapolis, and Julia Kathleen of Seattle, Washington.
Tim spent the entirety of his career at Allison Gas Turbine/Allison Engine Company/Rolls-Royce Corporation, where he worked as a chief design engineer, focused on aircraft turbines. He is remembered as a leader and mentor in the workplace. Beyond work, he loved sports and fitness, including basketball, golf, hockey, skiing, hiking, running, and cycling. Music was a large part of Tim’s life, from singing in the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir to cantoring at Mass, and from playing the trumpet to listening to a wide variety of music programs. He was a skilled handyman, an active community member, and had a passion for traveling. His kindness, compassion, and dedication to justice and joy inspired those around him. Most importantly, he will be dearly remembered for his love of and service to God, his family, and others.
Tim is survived by his wife and daughters, as well as four sisters and one brother: Barbara White, Dothan, Ala.; Thomas C. White III and wife, Susan, Norborne, Mo.; Beverly White and husband, John Menet, Chicago, Ill.; Brenda (White) Kueck and husband, Robert, Parkville, Mo.; Betsy (White) Holak and husband, Jim, Atherton, Calif.; eight nieces and nephews: Thomas and Matthew Dannamann; Nathan White and Amanda (White) van Meter and husband, Josh; Teddy Menet and wife Nazma Haroon; Kyle Kueck and Katie (Kueck) Gray and husband, Cougar; and Mitchell Holak.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 13th, from 4-8pm at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park North, (2706 Kessler Blvd. W. Dr., Indianapolis, IN) with a rosary beginning at 7pm. The funeral mass will take place Wednesday, June 14th, at 10:30am at St. Michael the Archangel Church (3354 W. 30th St., Indianapolis, IN).
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tim’s memory may be made to the following: St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Calvary Lutheran Church, the ALS Association Indiana Chapter, and the Greenways Foundation of Indiana. These are just a few of the organizations Tim held close to his heart. Thank you for your generosity.
