Thomas “Tom” M. Davis

67, of Indianapolis, passed away October 10, 2019. He was born on January 6, 1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana as the son of Jack Davis and Louise Pirce. After graduating high school, Tom went straight to work at General Motors. He worked at General Motors Stamping Plant in Indianapolis, then GM Metal Center in Marion, Indiana after the Indianapolis location closed. Though he worked for GM most of his professional career, he did work as a mechanic at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for a short time. Outside of work, Tom was, as he would say, “A jack of all trades, master of none.” Tom was known to lend a helpful hand to anyone that needed it. He was able to help with anything from mechanical to construction. Tom was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was an active member in UAW Local 23 and proudly served as Committeeman for several years. Tom retired as a member of UAW Local 2209. He also served his community as a Democratic Precinct Committeeperson, as well as Inspector at the voting locations for the last 40 years. Tom married the love of his life, Diana, on July 8, 1972 and they had two children, Aubrey and Jacob. He was an avid Harley rider and enjoyed spending time at the lake. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Tom is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diana Davis; children: Aubrey (John) Johnson, Jacob Davis; grandchildren: Zaine Johnson, Uriah Johnson, Kenni Jane Davis; mother, Louise Pirce; brothers: Ray (Jennifer) Davis, Ricky (Debbie) Davis, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Davis; sisters: Pamela (Bill) Haygood, Kimberly Davis; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Davis; step-mom, Erma Davis; brother, Gary Davis; and sister, Sharon Johnson.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019, from 4-8pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 12-1pm with a funeral service following at 1pm, also at the funeral home.
