COLONEL THOMAS MARION
SPENCER,III (RET.)
Colonel Thomas Marion Spencer III, (Ret.) passed away surrounded by family on January 18, 2011. He was born January 15, 1939 in Miami,OK the son of Thomas M. Spencer,Jr. and Thelma (Cole)Spencer, both whom have preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Spencer.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force (1965-1986), achieving the rank of Colonel,and Kansas Air National Guard.
His civilian employment was with TransWorld Airlines as a Pilot. During his career he attained over 25,000 flight hours.
Tom was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He also was an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. Tom was an avid blood donor, giving over 1,000 pints of blood during his lifetime. He was a member of the American Legion, a volunteer for the USO, and volunteered with St. Charles (MO)County Fire Dept. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharman (Brumble)Spencer; a son, Gregory Brant Spencer (wife,Sarah); grandchildren, Caden A. and Chloe A. Spencer; brothers, Bob, and Dick Spencer; sisters, Betty Berkey and Martha Jackson. Numerous extended family and friends.
Visitation for Colonel Thomas M. Spencer III will be Friday (1-21-11)from 4 to 8pm in Flanner
and Buchanan Washington Park East Funeral Center.
Funeral services will be Saturday (1-22-11)at Faith United Methodist Church, 9031 E. 16th St.,Indpls.,IN 46229.
A committal service will take place in Marion National V.A. Cemeterty (Marion,IN) on Monday (1-24-2011) at 1pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or the CHHS-Hospice, 9894 E. 121St St., Fishers, IN 46037.
