Thomas Lee Hodgin

Thomas Lee Hodgin, 58, of Carmel, IN, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015. He was born on November 18, 1957 to the late Robert T. Hodgin and Anne E. (Henderson) Hodgin.

Tom began working for the two family businesses, Speed-EE-Ice and Hodgin Oil Co. Inc., in his teens. After graduating from Carmel High School in 1976, Tom officially joined Hodgin Oil Co. Inc. and took over full operation when his father passed. He worked for Hodgin Oil for thirty years. After selling the business in 2003, he joined Mister Ice of Indianapolis as a service technician, where he worked for almost ten years.
He met the love of his life, Margaret D. (Hein) Hodgin through a simple personal ad Tom had placed in back of Indianapolis Monthly magazine. They were married on September 24, 1988 and this year celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; his daughters, Stephanie Renee and Allison Elizabeth; his sisters, Donna (Chris) Redmon and Luanne Hodgin; his brothers, John (Lisa) Hodgin and Mike (Christine) Hodgin; sister-in-laws Deb and Alisa Hein, several nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as many friends from years in the oil business.
The family wishes to thank the radiation and oncology staff at St. Vincent Cancer Care for their tireless work and unmatched compassion as they cared for Tom. A special thank you to Dr. Milton and Dr. Dugan who allowed us many extra months with our husband, dad, brother, and friend.
Family and friends will gather for calling on Friday, December 18, 2015 for a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive, Carmel, IN 46032. Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Flanner and Buchanan Carmel.
