Thomas J. Knox, of Noblesville, IN, age 78, died on May 14, 2012 surrounded by his family. Born August 11, 1933, he was the youngest son of the late John and Agnes Knox. He married his cherished wife, lifelong love and friend, Marilyn Jean (Wollenweber) in 1955. She survives. Also surviving are his sister, Frances (Knox) Smith, children, Rie (John) Turpin, Michael Knox, Sandy (Patrick) Arnold, Jim (Rachel) Knox and Chris Knox, twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Thom graduated from Cathedral High School, attended Butler University School of Pharmacy and graduated from Indiana University School of Business. He operated Knox Pharmacy with his father, uncle and brother until 1964. He was co-owner of Wilson-Partenheimer Inc. until 1985. In 1986 he started Universal Building Products Inc., as president and owner retiring in 2006.
He was a member of the Indianapolis Chapter of Construction Specification Institute, the downtown Indianapolis Kiwanis Club, and past president of the Keystone Optimist Club, the Indianapolis Chapter of the Construction Products Manufacturer's Council Inc., and the Marion County 4-H Y.O.U. and a past board member of the Indianapolis chapter of Associated General Contractors of America.
Thom was known to generous and kind. He had a quick wit and enjoyed a good prank. He loved boating, water skiing, travelling and was an excellent bowler.
We will celebrate Thom's life on Friday, May 18, 2012. Friends may visit beginning 2:00 pm followed by A Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Noblesville. Interment will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Alzheimer's Assn.
