Thomas Gerald Campbell

August 13, 1945 — July 7, 2021

Fishers, IN

Thomas Gerald Campbell passed away peacefully with his family beside him on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.  He was born to Thomas & Geraldine Campbell on August 13, 1945.  Tom served two years active duty for the US Navy in Naples, Italy.  After returning home from the service, Tom went to IUPUI and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education.  He taught 5th grade for 38 years for the Mount Vernon School Corporation.  He also received his principal’s license and administrated the summer school program K-12 for 10 years.  “Mr. Campbell” was known for his life-lesson stories and nicknaming the children.  His love and desire to see children succeed was hard to equal.

He began attending Calvary Temple (now The Caring Place) in 1968 where he worked on staff while pursuing his education.  A young lady, who also attended the church, caught his eye and they began dating in 1975.  He married her in 1977.  Next to Tom’s faith in Christ, he felt the most important part of his life began when he married, and then had two beautiful children.  His devotion and love for his family is unprecedented.

Some of the things Tom loved most, besides watching his grandchildren, were enjoying the company of friends and family, working outside in the yard, hiking and biking. It should be noted that within the past year we hiked several trails in the Smokies, Maine, and Florida.  And, we were riding rollercoasters at Disney World.  He had a zest for life and did not let his numerical age rule his life.

Tom’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by his adoring wife, Paula, his daughter, Jennifer (Alan) Errichiello, his son, Tom (Trulie) Campbell, and grandchildren, Madison, Roman, Sophia, Samuel, and Oscar.

He is also survived by his sisters, Rita Milliron, Judy Natali, and brother, Don Campbell.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Purdy.  It is also important to mention that Tom cherished his brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 1pm to 4pm at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street.  The service will begin at 4pm.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Tom’s honor to The Caring Place, Missions Department, 2901 N. Post Road, Indianapolis, IN 46219.
