Thomas Frank Trainer, 82, passed away July 29, 2022. He was the son of Frank and Blanche Trainer and brother of Diane Meyer of Evansville, Indiana. Tom is the father of Todd, Rush and Allison Trainer, and husband of Jenny Trainer.
He always cared about his family more than anything.
He grew up in Evansville, Indiana, where he attended Evansville Reitz High School and was the class president. He was very successful in football and went on to play at Indiana University in Bloomington.
Tom attended the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, Indiana. He completed his internship in Portland, Oregon and his residency in Morgantown, West Virginia. He went on to work as an Orthopedic Surgeon for 42 years. He was the recipient of the most prestigious physician award for St. Vincent Hospitals and the past president of the Indiana Orthopedic Society.
Tom was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and was a devoted Christian. He was also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, The Lamb’s Club, and the Player’s Club in Indianapolis. He was the chairman of the St. Vincent Indianapolis Orthopedic Surgery Department for many years.
Tom was a good and decent man. He is loved by his family and friends. He will be deeply cherished forever.
Visitation will be held Tuesday August 9, from 12 noon to 1 pm, with a Memorial Service following at 1 pm, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 100 W 86th St, Indianapolis, IN 46260. Burial of Tom’s cremated remains will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
