Thomas Emery Sturgeon affectionately known as “Bad Boy” died December 21, 2015 at the age of 82. He was born in English, IN on December 16, 1933 to the late Emery and Dorothy Satterfield Sturgeon and was raised by his step-mother Rella Sturgeon.
He spent 42 years of his career working for various companies as a railroad worker. He was a member of Christian Park Reformed Church until it closed and later attended Southeast Baptist Tabernacle.
In his earlier years, Thomas spent time at his cabin at Deitz Lake. A resident of Indianapolis, Thomas and Maegene were snowbirds in Winter Garden, FL. Thomas could be found fishing, working on old cars, or listening to old music or watching old movies. He also enjoyed playing bingo at the Sertoma, playing on the internet with his hot spot, and Sunday night funnies.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Maegene Kuipers Sturgeon; children Tammy Nicholson (Michael), Terri Anderson, Tricia Sugimura (Joseph) and the late Tracy Sturgeon; many grandchildren, siblings (Leon Meriwether, James Lahue, Nelson Lahue, Linda Bean, and Paul Lahue and the late Nathan Sturgeon, Elsie Borst, Clarence Sturgeon, James Sturgeon, Hester Sturgeon, Chester Sturgeon, Beula Welch, Mildred Goldman-Wisner, Mary Lou Bye, and Ralph Meriwether), nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held Saturday, December 26 at 12 noon with visitation 10 AM until the time of service at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis with burial following at Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southeast Baptist Tabernacle, 6835 Shelbyville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46237.
