Thomas Leroy Baynham was the son of the late Virgil and Nellie Ray Baynham. He was born June 12, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Thomas gave his life to Christ at a young age and was baptized at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church of Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Indianapolis Public Schools. He was a graduate of Crispus Attucks High School. He joined the United States Army in 1964. He received the National Defense Service Medal.
Thomas married Josephine Palm plus her daughter, Jennifer, on November 27, 1967. Thomas was employed at the Detroit Allison Speedway location. Thomas started Baynham Trucking Company as an owner-operator.
The family relocated to Muncie, Indiana, for four years, where Thomas was contracted by the 3M Company out of Hartford City, Indiana. They returned to Indianapolis, and he was hired by Bowman Trucking as a driver. He finished his trucking career at Bowman Trucking Company, with years of service and driving awards. One of his greatest hobbies was playing golf.
Thomas departed this life on April 10, 2026, at the age of eighty-three.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Nellie Ray Baynham; his brother, Charles Virgil Baynham; and his sister, Wanita Baynham.
Thomas leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Mrs. Josephine Baynham; daughter Jennifer Battle Kelly (Bill); grandson Miles Kelly; granddaughter Kamille Kelly; sisters, Patricia Wilson, Deborah Taylor, and Yvonne Baynham; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
