Theresa “Terry” Ann Pipkin Langley, 73, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026, just three days shy of her 74th birthday, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on September 23, 1952, in Lexington, Kentucky, to Richard Leigh Pipkin and Martha Fay Cox Pipkin.
Growing up, some of Terry’s happiest memories were made at her Grandmother and Grandaddy’s farm in Huntington, Tennessee. She loved collecting eggs, helping in the garden, following Grandaddy on his chores, and roaming the many acres of farmland. Terry attended Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1970.
Terry’s first job was at a movie theater, and she later worked at Bunk’s Pizza in Broad Ripple. From 1970 to 1974, she was a policy entry clerk at Travelers Insurance. In 1974, she began a long career at Boehringer Mannheim, which later became Roche Diagnostics. As a customer training specialist, she provided administrative support to several departments and arranged travel and lodging for employees coming from across the country and around the world. She received several awards for her work before retiring in 2012.
Terry made her home in Broad Ripple, where she enjoyed her beautiful lot beside a creek and the company of her wonderful neighbors. She collected Moon and Star glass and was a longtime member of its collectors’ society. She bowled in leagues for more than two decades and served as league secretary at Nora Bowl, where she once bowled an impressive 265. Terry had an adventurous side, too. She enjoyed riding her motorcycle, including a trip to Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and held fond memories of a trip to Mexico.
Above all, Terry loved her “critters.” She recently said goodbye to her beloved dog Ginger. Over the years, she also loved her collie Skipper and cats Cuddles, Sibbie, Sissy Mae, Nicky, Baby, Colby, Topaz, Jack, Sonny, Gypsy Rose, and Shelly, among many others. Her cats Smoky, Snowball, and Minnie are now in the loving care of their Aunt Dee Dee.
At family gatherings, Terry was known for her extra-special homemade fudge and deviled eggs, as well as her smile and laughter during the family’s lively, joy-filled holiday celebrations. In recent years, she faced hardships with courage and held on to her sense of humor through it all.
Terry was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Fay Cox Pipkin; her father, Richard Leigh Pipkin; and her brother, Edward Leigh Pipkin. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Stephen) Lamond; nephews Steve (Michelle) Pipkin, Jeff (Gina) Pipkin, Benjamin (Amber) Pipkin, and Rick (Diane) Lamond; nieces Andi (Jack) Hogan and Kim (Jeffrey) Joest; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd. W. Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46228. A service will be held there at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, with burial immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Terry’s memory to IndyHumane, the American Cancer Society, or St. Joseph’s Indian School.
