In Loving Remembrance

Sunrise October 28, 1939 – Sunset July 14, 2026

Theresa Day was born October 28, 1939, in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was raised in a Christian home with her mother Marjorie M. Green and father Rudolph “Red” Green. She attended public schools in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Theresa Green was united in holy matrimony to Curtis Day on June 29, 1959, by Reverend Samuel L. Day in Indianapolis, Indiana. To this union was born Curtis Day, Jr, Patricia Ann Day, Theresa Day, and Wayne Elliott Day. Curtis became a father to Theresa’s young son Charles Green.

Theresa professed a hope in Christ at an early age. Theresa joined First Samuel Baptist Church with her husband Curtis Day where Rev. William Smith was the pastor. Theresa and Curtis left First Samuel Baptist Church when Curtis’s Uncle Sam, Rev. Samuel L. Day needed assistance at his church which was Bethlehem Baptist Church. Curtis was an associated minister there and upon the death of Rev. Samuel Day her husband, Curtis Day Sr became pastor of the church. When her husband, Curtis, retired due to health reasons Theresa joined Olivet Missionary Church March 27, 2016, where Wayne L. Moore was pastor. She remained a member at Olivet Missionary until she passed.

Theresa’s first job was with Land and Seas Restaurant in Glendale Shopping Center. She remained there until the restaurant closed. She started working at Hooverwood Nursing Home, as an LPN, in 1972. She remained there until 2020 when she retired due to the COVID pandemic.

Theresa was a tireless caregiver to her son, Wayne, who suffers from Sickle Cell disease. Theresa also collaborated with medical professionals to assist her son, Charles, who suffered from liver cancer to obtain a place in line for a liver transplant. However, he passed before he was able to get the transplant. She never complained even when she was tired. When her husband, Curtis, was diagnosed with Parkinson disease she took her marriage vows seriously of to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until we are parted by death.

Theresa’s hobbies were traveling in their RV with Curtis and Wayne all over the United States. She enjoyed cooking for her family on holidays. On Memorial Day she would bring out the bar-b-cue grill and cooked ribs, chicken, fruit, and vegetables with all the sides. She was known for frying multiple turkeys on Thanksgiving with many sides, desserts, and various other meats.

Theresa departed this early world life on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 5:53 am in IU West Hospital in Avon, Indiana at the age of eighty-six years, eight months, and sixteen days. Theresa was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Day Sr, Marjorie Green, Father Rudolph Green, nephews Junior “Jay” Green, James Green, brothers George (Ernestine), Jimmy Green, Aunt Lettie Hedgespeth, daughter Patricia Ann Day, son Charles Green Sr, and grandson Keith Lamont Hampton.

She leaves to cherish her memory children Curtis Day Jr (Ruby), Theresa Springfield (Deryl), Wayne Elliott Day, and sister-in-law Linnie Montgomery, Niece Lois Green, Nephew Ronald Green, Grandchildren: LaTasha Timberlake, Devin Day, Brittany Day, Khara Smith, Monique Shanks, Christian Givens Sr, Jermaine Shanks, Nicole Springfield: Great Grandchildren: Jonathan Timberlake, Jeremiah Timberlake, Briella Jackson, Brelynn Day, Baileigh Day, Karter Massey, Brandyn Massey, Milo Ice, JeviPhoenix Ice, Marvel Lennex Ice, Crishawn Givens and daughter Crishea, Christian Ja’Niya Givens, Cresha Givens, Christian Givens Jr, Chandler Givens, Caleb Givens, Cierra Givens-Davis, Chazaiah Davis, Colton Davis, Zeiss Davis, Jaysia Shanks and son Malachi, Brianna Shanks and son Kaisen, Javenai Shanks, Jeremiah Shanks, Sincere Shanks, Tyler Smith, Ziyon-Jermaine Shanks, Terry Springfield, Derrick Springfield, and a host of cousins and friends.
