Thelma A. Smitha
89, Indianapolis, passed away September 7, 2012. She was born November 1, 1922, in Brownsburg, the daughter of the late Benjamin C. and Bertha Olive (Nash) Weddle. She married Wilbur L. Smitha on June 24, 1950, and he preceded her in passing in 1986.
She was a 1941 graduate of Brownsburg High School, and continued her education at Central Business College. She was a bookkeeper for Prestolite Battery and the family business, Wilbur L. Smitha, Inc. for 50 years.
Thelma was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Michael L. (Denese) Smitha; two granddaughters, Emily Ann (Kevin) Ward and Anna Smitha (Trent) Hahn; four great grandchildren, Lexie and Allie Ward, Jake and Julia Hahn; and nephew, Melvin (Betty) Weddle. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Paul Weddle and Marion Weddle.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Brownsburg Health Care Center for their loving care over the last few years.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2012, at Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 East Broad Ripple Avenue. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or to the Humane Society of Indianapolis.
