Thelma Louise Mckinney

February 13, 1927 — June 28, 2011

Thelma Louise Yount McKinney 84, Indianapolis, passed away June 28, 2011. She was employed with Walker Research for 20 years, retiring in 1988. Thelma was a Girl Scout leader, camp director and trainer for 20 years and was awarded the “Thanks” badge for outstanding service. She was a Past Matron and 66 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Irvington Chapter #364, honorary member of the Middletown Chapter and was a former Grand Representative of the order to the State of New York. Thelma was a member and past president of the Green Thumb garden club and Central District Director of the Garden Clubs of Indiana, Inc. She was an active member of the Cumberland Christian Church and the Northeastwood Christian Church, where she was a member of the Bible Study and Senior Choir. She is survived by her children, Jane Ellen (husband, Kevin) Moore and David Alan (wife, Hong) McKinney; grandchildren, Craig, Dale, Meghan, Alan and Tong Tong; great- grandchildren; Abbie, Zander, Zavier, Arrysa and Jesslynn; brother, Orville Yount. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Joe J. McKinney and a granddaughter, Tara Lynn. Services for Thelma will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Washington Park East, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 1. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Irvington Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
