Terry James Spartz, 68, of Zionsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with appendiceal cancer.
Born in Great Falls, Montana, on August 14, 1957, Terry was raised with a deep sense of faith, integrity, and purpose that guided his life’s work and relationships. He honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1977 to 1980, achieving the rank of Corporal and serving primarily as a Military Policeman. He was recognized as an Expert Marksman during his service.
For 27 years, Terry was a devoted and active member of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church in Zionsville. His life embodied “servant leadership,” a golden thread evident in his many acts of service to his faith community. He was a proud Knight of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight, and also gave his time as a member of the Parish Council, Finance Committee, and Building Committee, helping to guide the parish’s growth. Terry also served as an Usher, member of the Security Team, and Confrere in the Knights of the Holy Temple.
An avid golfer, Terry was a founding member of the St. Alphonsus Golf League, where he shared friendship and faith on the greens for 22 years.
Terry will be remembered for his unwavering faith, love for family, quiet strength, and remarkable work ethic. He was a man who could always be counted on—a steady presence, a loyal friend, and a devoted husband and father.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lynn Spartz of Zionsville, IN, and their children: Jessica Molony (Prairieville, LA), Victoria (Vasco) (Lisbon, Portugal), Peter (Brianna) (Geneva, IL), and Emma Spartz (Chicago, IL) and three grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Tim (Lori) Spartz of Jasper, TN, and sister Lori Spartz of Daly City, CA.
A wake will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church in Zionsville, followed by a funeral mass at noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church or the Little Sisters of the Poor of Indianapolis or Guerin Catholic High School.
Terry’s life was one of faith, service, and love—a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
