Terence James Debruicker

March 28, 1959 — August 13, 2012

Terence James DeBruicker, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, died at his home in Broad Ripple Monday, August 13, of complications from metastatic prostate cancer. He was 53. He is survived by his wife, Lou DeBruicker, and his son James DeBruicker of Boston. He was a graduate of Warren Central High School and IUPUI. He was a highly regarded, imaginative, innovative developer of advanced software solutions for the brokerage, insurance and bond underwriting industries, and manufacturing concerns. He was a master of technology and a gifted communicator. Many of his information technology products have become licensed long-lived standards in their respective fields. Terry was an agnostic race fan. He liked NASCAR and Formula 1, and loved IndyCar. Alone on a special IndyCar day, he turned six laps at the Brickyard, with a fast lap of 151.4 mph. He was dedicated to the motivation and education of high-potential, high performing, and underperforming, high school students. Over the years he worked with and supported many fine young people at Broad Ripple High School. He helped create and provide life-changing learning experiences for hundreds of now-successful business professionals, creative artists and educators. Terry lived his life with honor, integrity and compassion. Throughout his battle he reminded us all that while destiny may not be changed, it can certainly be challenged. And challenge it he did. He was an old school good guy, one of the best and last of his kind, with strength of character that will remain unmatched. He will be missed. Terry is also survived by his brothers Stewart DeBruicker of Philadelphia, Tim DeBruicker of Bloomington, Dan DeBruicker of Indianapolis and Greg DeBruicker of Indianapolis; his sister Sara DeBruicker Pell of Zionsville; his nieces Lauren DeBruicker of Philadelphia, Kathryn Pell of Indianapolis and Julia DeBruicker Valliant of Bloomington; and nephews John DeBruicker of Philadelphia, Paul DeBruicker of Portland, Oregon, Michael DeBruicker of Lenox, Massachusetts and David DeBruicker of Bloomington.
