Tamra Anne Bymaster-Chastain
56, of Indianapolis, went home to be with the Lord, January 18, 2013 after an almost 10 year battle with cancer.
Born June 3, 1956 to Derald Wayne and Patricia Anne (Bentley) Bymaster in Indianapolis, Tamra (Tam) graduated from Carol City High School in Miami, Florida, and resided there until moving to Indianapolis in 1982. There she met and, after an almost 4 year courtship, married Jeffrey R. Chastain, formerly of Mitchell, Indiana, March 7, 1986, who survives. Other survivors include daughter, Tamra (George) Carroll, Lynchburg, Virginia and five sons,Michael Smith, Indianapolis, Tyson (Betsy) Chastain, Knoxville, Tennessee, Trent (Janet) Chastain, Minot, North Dekota, Travis Chastain, Indianapolis, and Trajen (Kim) Chastain, Pittsboro, Indiana. Additional survivors include 29 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, mother, Patricia Stuart, of Indianapolis, father, Wayne (Jacki) Bymaster, Tampa Florida, sister, Candace (Doug) Foppiano, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and four brothers, Timothy (Marcia) Bymaster, Jupiter, Florida, Todd Bymaster, Indianapolis, Richard (Jessica) Bymaster, Tampa, and Mark Stuart, Indianapolis. Tam's 15 year career in public service included 9 years as Safety & Security Manager for the City of Indianapolis' Department of Parks & Attendance Secretary/Receptionist for the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township in Indianapolis. Subsequent to her retirement in 2006, she accepted employment as a part-time project assistant for White Oak Construction in Indianapolis. Tam was a member of he beloved Ben Davis Christian Church and Tri-Kappa philanthropic sorority.
Visitation will be conducted at Flanner and Buchanan-Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd. from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 22, 2013 and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Ben Davis Christian Church, 701 Highschool Rd.
In lieu of flower memorial contributions may be directed to Beacon of Hope, Indianapolis Humane Society, or American Cancer Society.
