Tamara Joan Leonard (“Tami”), 65, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025 at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital.
Tami was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Keith Suttles and Joan Louise Suttles, her brother Randal Suttles, and her father-in-law William Robert Leonard.
On August 22, 1981, Tami married Robert Roy Leonard (“Bob”). Their wedding date was also Bob’s birthday, which ensured he would always remember their anniversary. Bob survives Tami along with their two children Elly (Tim) Nettleton and Robert (“Bo”) Leonard. Tami is also survived by her two adoring granddaughters Aubrey and Lauren, who lovingly call her “Ami”, her sister Pam (Mike) Williams, and her mother-in-law Nancy Leonard. Tami also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Tami was born on August 3, 1959 in Indianapolis, IN. She graduated from Carmel High School in 1977 and Indiana University in 1981. While both Tami and Bob attended Carmel High School, they did not begin dating until Tami’s freshman year in college. Tami loved being outdoors in the sunshine, whether on the water, at the beach or doing yardwork, where she was known for her green thumb. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she decorated the Christmas tree before Thanksgiving every year. Tami spent her entire professional career as a practicing certified public accountant, most recently as Managing Director, Risk Management-Tax for KPMG.
Tami’s greatest pride and joy was her family and she was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. The best family memories were made on fishing trips (she baited her own hook), ski trips, supporting Elly at amateur and collegiate golf tournaments, and supporting Bo in performances with Zionsville Royalaires and running two marathons. Tami also became an avid volleyball fan, watching Aubrey compete in club volleyball the past several years.
Bob, Elly and Bo express their sincere appreciation and thanks to all of Tami’s doctors, nurses and healthcare workers. She fought a courageous 13 ½ year battle with cancer. Tami lived a wonderful and full life making as many lasting memories as possible with her family right up until her passing. We send her to heaven knowing she is made perfect through the promise of resurrection and eternal life with our Lord and Savior.
Tami’s visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan - Carmel (325 E. Carmel Drive, Carmel, IN 46032). The family will further celebrate her life privately.
Donations in Tami’s memory may be made to Zionsville United Methodist Church (www.zumc.org) and the American Lung Association (www.lung.org).
