Sylvia Wadsworth

Sylvia Wadsworth, 89, passed away on October 27, 2023, in Indianapolis, IN.

Sylvia was born on August 23, 1934 in Indianapolis, to James Whitsett and Edith (Boots) Whitsett. Robert Trippet was Sylvia’s stepfather for many years.

She attended Arsenal Technical High School and graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School.

She started her career as a sales consultant in 1978 for W. H Block, and Montgomery Ward and won many Top Achiever awards for excellence in sales.

Sylvia married Ralph Wadsworth Sr. on September 14th, 1952, in Indianapolis. They would have been married for 71 years.   Ralph passed away August 17, 1977.

Sylvia was best known for her sense of humor and love and selfless sacrifices for her family.  She had a passion for gardening, bowling, and playing euchre in a card club and the company her dear friends June, Joyce, Rosie, Marilyn, and many others. 

Sylvia is survived by her sister Judy, her sons; Ralph, Kevin, and Ted; her daughter Pamela, eleven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.  Much love and affection go out to Ron and Judy, Shelley and Brian, for always being there in Sylvia’s times of need.  Additionally, during the past several years as her condition worsened, her daughter Pamela was her primary caregiver and gave nearly all of herself and her time to Mom.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, her husband Ralph Wadsworth Sr., her brothers; James, Paul, Dick, Steve, and her sisters; Elwanda and Carolyn, her two sons Jerry and Michael, and her grandson Marcus.

The graveside service for Sylvia Wadsworth will be held on Saturday, at 2pm at Washington Park East Cemetery. Family and guests are welcome to arrive at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East Funeral Center at 1:45pm to process to the graveside together.
