Sylvester “Tony” Kelly, 90, of Westfield passed away May 3, 2025. He was born August 31, 1934, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the son of the late Sylvester M. and Anne (Kazer) Kelly. He married Joanne Kelly who preceded him in passing on March 6, 2006.
A gifted athlete at an early age, Tony excelled in baseball and football competing on a semi-pro level. He competitive side never wavered, even with the age, as Tony used his talents in the game of golf. He had a green thumb, and would grow an impressive garden at every home he owned. He also enjoyed traveling to his son’s home in northern Indiana, where he would spend his days fishing. Tony retired after a long career in the restaurant industry as a District Director of Operations. His dynamic personality, and sense of humor assured there would never be a lack of entertainment in his presence. He was a devoted dad and grandpa, who will be forever missed.
He is survived by his three children, Doug (Sheryl) Kelly, Tony Kelly, and Juli (Steve) Byrne; 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; and siblings, David Kelly, Janet Pizzuto, and Jim Kelly. He was preceded in passing by his eldest daughter, Sharon Hillan; two brothers, George Kelly, Bob Kelly; and a sister, Catherine “Cookie” Cindric.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Boys Town or the Wounded Warrior Project.
