SUSANNE MARIE (WERMUTH) MILLER resident of Indianapolis, IN passed away at AMG Specialty Hospital, Greenfield, IN at 3:38 am on August 4, 2023 at the age of 60. Susanne was predeceased in death by her children: Jeremey Magellan Miller, and four miscarriages. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Frederick William Wermuth and Ethel Bernice (McAllister) Wermuth, her elder siblings Nancy Louise Schad and William Frederick Wermuth, her niece, Waynette Ann Bolson, and her nephew, Michael Daniel Wermuth.
Susanne is survived by her loving husband, Michael John Miller of 30-years. They were married in the town of Clay, NY on August 7, 1993. Susanne is lovingly remembered and survived by her daughter, Victoria Jean Marie Miller. Other surviving family include sisters, Lidge Kelly, Maryann Tinsley, and Joanne Radzyminski and numerous nieces/nephews, and loving friends.
Susanne was born in Syracuse, New York on June 21, 1963. She graduated from Cicero High School in 1981, where she was a member of the Cicero Golden Eagles Marching Band. She went on to earn an AAS from Western Connecticut University. She worked as a costumer, artist, leather worker, metal smith, and enameller. She also pursued work in retail, hospitality, factory work and various health care positions. Susanne enjoyed Medieval, Renaissance, Colonial, Revolutionary, and Civil War Reenactments — in this field; she studied Costuming, Ancient Sanitation, European Insular Studies, Calligraphy/ Illumination, Bardic and Folk-telling Arts, Cooking, Herbal and Domestic Arts, Leatherwork and Skeletal Arts.
She attended St. Athanasius Byzantine Church, Indianapolis. She was also a 45-year member of the SCA. She was a graduate of the BOSMA center for visionary solutions’ classes for navigating blindness. She loved the communities she was a part of,and made sure to bring joy and laughter to all around her.
Susanne was an avid proponent of being an organ donor and successfully donated her corneas after passing so others could see. This came after she herself was legally blind for several years. The family is honored she could be so pivotal in someone else’s journey to see again.
There will be no visitation or graveside services. A memorial celebration of life will be held in Indianapolis, IN. A second celebration will be in Syracuse, NY. Both celebration’s details are to be announced later. If you wish to attend one, contact her family at [email protected].
Her family is collecting Indiana wildflower seeds to be planted in Kessler Woods and other memorial gardens. Susanne will be cremated and buried in Kessler Woods at Flanner Buchanan’s Washington Park North Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
