Susan Jeane Waldo Peine, age 87, passed away on November 19, 2024. She was born on June 25, 1937, in Flora Indiana, and adopted by Jeane Thayer and Susan Venable Waldo. She attended Broad Ripple High School, was in the first nursing class at DePauw University, and graduated as an RN in 1959. She was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart and moved to Syracuse, New York where they both got jobs at Carrier Corporation. After their first child was born, they moved back to Indianapolis where Tom joined his father’s company, Peine Engineering, heading up the service department. Her devotion to her family was the cornerstone of who she was. Sue was a loving and supportive wife and fiercely active as a mom of four children. She had a strong Christian faith, was a deaconess and elder’s wife in the Worldwide Church of God, later the United Church of God, and was an active board member of LifeNets charity. Sue had a servant’s heart, and selflessly cared for and mentored others in countless ways. She loved to garden and was an excellent cook. She loved to laugh, and everyone commented on how she was always smiling. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be deeply missed. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Thomas David Peine, her granddaughter, Lauren Danielle Peine, and is survived by her brother David Thayer Waldo (Gail), children Catherine McClure (Malcolm), Michael Peine (Sheila), Anita Kranich (David), William Peine (Gina), nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
