Steven William Smith

It is with great sadness that the Smith family announces Steve’s passing on July 29, 2022 at 60 years old.

Steve came into the world on October 23, 1961 in Evansville, IN to Jerry and Mary Jane (Dedman) Smith. He attended the University of Evansville where he met the love of his life, Julie Davis. Steve and Julie were married on November 3, 1984. They share two children, Josh Smith and Shaye (Michael) Fata.

From a young age, Steve was a lover of all things sports, especially basketball. He attended UE basketball games as an alumni for 30+ years. He enjoyed the creativity of cooking, trying new cuisines and sharing the details with the people closest to him. He thoroughly enjoyed connection and was charitable towards personal and professional development of the community through his years working at Habitat for Humanity, staying actively involved in the Purple Aces Club and his local BNI chapter.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Jerry, and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife Julie, his children Josh and Shaye as well as his mother, Mary Jane and brother Mike Smith.

A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, August 4 from 2-5pm with a service immediately following in Indianapolis, IN at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, (Conner Suite) 9700 Allisonville Road Indianapolis, IN 46250

The family asks that in lieu of flowers that Steve’s loved ones consider donating to the Habitat for Humanity of Evansville, IN or the American Cancer Society.
