Steven Lee Spiller, Sr., 59, of Carmel, IN passed away in his home on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Steve was born in Chicago, IL on February 7, 1966, to Dixie & James Spiller.
He grew up in Matteson, IL where he graduated from Rich South High School in 1984. Steve moved to Carmel in 1986 where he eventually worked for Langston Development, before starting his own business, Spiller Excavating, in 1991, which continued until 2002. He began Simplicity Contracting in 2016 which he operated with his son, Andrew, until his death.
Steve is survived by his mother, Dixie Spiller; five children, Steven Spiller, Jr., Carllie (Tyler) Kroes, Andrew Spiller, Colleen Spiller, and Cayllie Spiller; two brothers, David Spiller and James (Shelbie) Spiller; and his close friend Sarah Cranor.
He was proceeded in death by his father, James R. Spiller, grandparents Connie & Ila Dean Spiller and Roy & Dora Evans.
A service to honor Steve will be held at Cornerstone Lutheran Church, 4850 E Main Street, Carmel, IN 46033, on Friday, October 17, 2025. Visitation at 10:00 am, service at 11:30 am with lunch reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or to Cornerstone Lutheran Church.
