New Palestine, Indiana – Steven Albert Seiler, 76, passed away after being comforted by family and friends, on May 3, 2025. His humble attitude and kind spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Steve was born on April 24, 1949, in Lincoln, Nebraska to parents Albert & Dorothy Mae (Hergenrader) Seiler. He joined the United States Army out of high school, serving his country honorably during the Vietnam War. After leaving the military, Steve attended Indiana University where he obtained his criminal justice degree. He worked as a claims adjuster for various insurance companies, eventually retiring with Pathco at age 60. Steve was also longtime member of the Disabled American Veterans, as well as the American Legion.
Steve was devoted to his family more than anything else. He met his beloved wife Diane in March of 1969, and they were married on June 5, 1971.They celebrated 53 years of marriage before his passing.
A hardworking man, he took great pride in providing for his wife and family. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren compete in various sports, never missing a game if he could help it. An avid golfer as well, he played for many years with friends and family in a Greenfield golf league.
Never having met a stranger, he enjoyed talking to anyone, and was the kind of person who would thank everyone who would help him at the hospital.
In addition to his parents, Steve is preceded in death by his son Chris Seiler.
He is survived by his beloved wife Diane (Brammann) Seiler; son Ryan Seiler; grandchildren Skylee Seiler, Colt Seiler, Hannah Seiler, Trace Seiler, and Sadie Seiler; as well as sister Nancy Sanders (Mike).
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229) from 11 – 1 pm with funeral services following at 1 pm, Officiant Vey Kidney presiding. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in Steve’s memory.
