Steven "Steve" James Schenck Sr.

Steven James “Steve” Schenck, Sr., of Fishers, Ind., passed away July 5, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones, at the age of 76.

Steve will be missed by his children, Jim (Rani) Schenck, Andy (Claire) Schenck, Scott (Keely) Schenck, and Julie (Ben) Garvin, all of Fishers, IN, and his eleven grandchildren: Olivia, Charlie, Addison, Evelyn, Sam, John-Henry, Noah, Luke, Graham, Carolyn and Charlotte.

Steve was preceded in death by the love of his life and very best friend, Becky (Burk) Schenck; an infant daughter, Gina Schenck; his parents, Leo and Beulah (Pyle) Schenck; and his four siblings.

Steve was born on August 18, 1948, in Evansville, IN. He married Becky (Burke), the love of his life, in 1970. The couple moved from their first home in Evansville to Lafayette, where their son, Jim, was born. In 1973, they relocated to Indianapolis, when Steve started his career at Indiana National Bank. He retired in 2007 from Regions Bank, after 34 years in the banking business, Steve retired to become the full-time caretaker of his ailing wife before joining Jim at Merrill Lynch. The Schenck’s other children, Scott, Andy and Julie, were all born in Indianapolis. Steve loved his family and was completely devoted to Becky, their children and grandchildren.

When not working, Steve loved going out to eat to a nice restaurant, taking a drive, especially in his beloved Porche, betting on the horses and working out. However, Steve was most content when spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he absolutely adored.

Friends may visit with the family from 4pm until 7pm on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan – Geist, located at 7855 Cork Road, Indianapolis). Funeral services for Steven will be held at 10am on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in the Chapel. Following services, Steven will be laid to rest alongside his beloved Becky, in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
