It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Gomez, who left us far too soon on September 20, 2026, at the age of 31.
Born on February 27, 1995, in Los Angeles, California, Steven later made Indianapolis his home, where he built a life surrounded by the people and passions he loved so deeply.
Steven was a truly positive person with a heart that was always willing to help others. He had a way of making people feel welcome, and he never hesitated to lend a hand whenever someone needed him. One of the things he loved most was being behind the chair at his barber shop, Crowned Barbers. Many people knew him as “Left Hand Gomez,” a name that became a part of who he was and how so many people remembered him. He started his journey as Left Hand Gomez, building relationships with his clients and community through his passion for barbering. At Crowned Barbers, he was able to continue doing what he loved while connecting with people, making them feel welcome, and sharing his positive spirit with everyone who sat in his chair.
Family meant everything to Steven. He loved his father, Jorge Gomez Sr., and his mother, Josefina Gomez, to the bottom of his heart. He shared a special bond with his four brothers, Jonathan Gomez, Jorge Gomez Jr., William Gomez, and Jay Gomez, and his love extended throughout his huge family.
Steven is survived by his loving mother, Josefina Gomez; his father, Jorge Gomez Sr.; his brothers, Jonathan Gomez, Jorge Gomez Jr., William Gomez, and Jay Gomez; his grandmother, Margarita Orozco; his beloved fiancée, Sabrina; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly.
Steven’s love reached far and wide, and he shared special, close bonds with all of his cousins and the many others who were fortunate enough to know him.
Steven also loved deeply and without hesitation. He loved his fiancée, Sabrina, with all his heart, and the love they shared was a beautiful part of his life.
When Steven wasn’t riding his motorcycle, you could often find him doing one of the many things that made him happy. He loved fishing, spending time with his dogs Chico, Macho, Peppa, and Oso, snowboarding, skateboarding, working on his trucks, playing video games, and going out to eat. His dogs were more than pets to him—they were family, and he loved them dearly.
Those who knew Steven will remember his positive spirit, his willingness to help, his love for his family, and the way he cared about the people around him.
And for those who sat in his barber chair, there are memories they will never forget.
You could sit in Steven’s chair and tell him exactly how you wanted your haircut, but sometimes Steven had a different idea. He had an eye for what would look best, and he wasn’t afraid to take a different route because he knew he could make it look even better. He took pride in his work, and he had a way of making you trust him—even when the cut ended up being different from what you originally asked for.
And after every haircut, Steven would send you on your way with the same simple words:
“Be careful and drive safe!”
Those words captured so much of who Steven was. Even in the smallest moments, he cared. He wanted people to make it home safely. He wanted the people around him to be okay.
Steven’s absence leaves an unimaginable hole in the hearts of his family, Sabrina, his friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his time with us was far too short, the love he gave, the memories he created, and the lives he touched will remain with us forever.
Steven, we love you more than words can ever express. You will forever be our son, brother, fiancé, grandson, cousin, uncle, friend, and beloved family member.
Until we meet again, be careful and drive safe. ❤️
