Stephen J. Wischmeyer

Steve Wischmeyer, 88, of Carmel, passed away April 30, 2026. He was born in Lansing, MI to the late Stephen and Irene Wischmeyer.

He was a graduate of Michigan State University and retired from Allison Transmission in 1992 after 31 years of service with General Motors. His favorite role was being “Gramps” to his 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Castro (Mike), Noblesville, Brad Bruckman, Carmel, Jake Wischmeyer (Hannah), Katie and Carly Wischmeyer, and 4 great grandchildren, Rylan and Mason Castro, Jace Bruckman, and Cameron Wischmeyer. He loved attending their sporting and school events. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church of Carmel.

Steve was pre-deceased by wife of 59 years, Joan. He is survived by daughter Lynn Bruckman, Carmel; son, Todd (Lee Ann) Wischmeyer, Carmel, and son, Michael (Mary Ellen) Wischmeyer, Westfield.

A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace Chapel on Wednesday, May 6, at 11am, with calling 1 hour prior to service. Burial will follow mass at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.
