Stephen Willard Sinders

Stephen Willard Sinders, 82, passed away on May 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Stephen was born in Somerville, New Jersey, on May 22, 1943, to Chester Sinders and Evelyn Willard.

Stephen was a man whose passions and humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. A lifelong lover of trains, he not only worked on them but found genuine joy simply being around them. Stephen was proud of his service in the United States Army, a chapter of his life he carried with quiet pride. Known for his quick wit and playful spirit, he was always ready with a joke and delighted in making others laugh. In his later years, some of his happiest moments were spent gardening alongside his daughter Beth, tending the soil and sharing conversations. Above all, Stephen was a devoted and deeply loved father and grandpa, whose warmth, laughter, and steady presence will be dearly missed.

Stephen is preceded in death by his parents Chester Sinders, Nora Evelyn Willard, his beloved wife of 43 years Sue, and sister Dian West. Stephen is survived by his loving daughter Beth (Kevin) Yorn, and grandchildren Chelsea Doe (Alex Mulkey) Yorn, Kyle (Nick Balsley) Yorn, Chloe Yorn, and his sister-in-law Mary Jo Schwab.

Visitation for Stephen is scheduled for Monday May 11, 2026, from 11:00am-1:00pm at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East Funeral Home, 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm. Burial with military honors will take place at New Palestine Cemetery at 2:30pm.
