Stephen Fraser

Stephen “Steve” Fraser was born March 25th,1948 in Lansing Michigan. He passed away, peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family the evening of December 3rd, 2024.

He was predeceased by his son William Fraser, his parents Charles and Shirley Fraser, and his Sister Gail Adams.

He is survived by his Wife of 51 years, Deborah Fraser, his daughter, Samantha Lenox (James). His grandchildren, Ali Fraser (Justin Elam), Jessica Lenox, Anthony Anders, Stephen Anders (Savhanna Waffle), Alexis Fraser, Jaci Lenox, Shay Lenox, Abby Lenox, William “Little Will” Fraser, Austin Fraser, great-grandchildren, Alina and Amias Fraser, his brother Jeff Fraser, sister-in-law Linda Delgado, and many nieces and nephews.

Stephen was born, the youngest of three children. He attended Michigan State University, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Packaging. He supported the republican party with dedication throughout his lifetime.

There were many jobs over his time but the theme remained the same, he was a salesman. As a Salesman he had an appreciation for good quality stationery and even his grandchildren knew he had a good quality pen in his shirt pocket and a knife in his pants pocket for opening packages. He passed his love for good stationery to his daughter, and she is never without a good pen.

He had the gift for gab, he never met a stranger and always had kind words of wisdom to share. The jokes ran freely, usually tailored to the audience. All these qualities made him good at any job he had. He did not meet a person he could not find common ground with and have a good laugh even at his own expense. His love extended to the animal kingdom as well, giving a home to many canine friends over the years. The most recent, Phoenix who kept a watcheful eye on his human until the end.

It wasn’t much of a surprise to see Steve watching Looney Tunes Cartoons with Sam and Bill on a Saturday morning when they were little. He passed his love of SciFi shows and movies onto Samantha as they often watched Star Trek together. “Live long and prosper”-Spock (Star Trek)

His first grandchild, Ali, gave him the name that all his grandchildren call him, “Da”. When Ali was learning to talk, she just started calling him Da, and it stuck.

“Steve was “a friend of Bill W”, Steve dedicated a lot of himself to help the program that helped him, it was important to his personal growth, and he took the program to heart. He was able to first achieve sobriety beginning in the 80’s and worked the program with dedication and determination. He knew that he wasn’t perfect, and no one was but everyone was “Perfectly capable of change”. He learned to have an appreciation for the program that not only helped him but encouraged him to help others on their path. Everywhere he went he made sure he knew where a meeting was taking place. He dedicated his available time, possessions, and money to various recovery houses and those that found themselves in dire straits. He talked with anyone who wanted to know about the program, his experience, and how it continued to help him.

Stephen did a lot for his family, he was very adamant that things could be fixed and that you did not need to hire someone to do it for you, until you tried to fix it first. His goal was to not only help educate you but get the job done. He believed in growth, change and the human spirit.

At every family blessing he began a tradition that his grandchildren have expressed a desire to continue. At the end of our family gathering, when it was time to say “Amen” he ended the blessing with the, “Rub a dub dub, thanks for the grub, Yeah God.”
