Steve L. Fisher

Stephen L. Fisher, a man known for his tinkering talents and love for all things that fly, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 3, 2024. Born July 14, 1956, to Richard (Dick) and Barbara Fisher, Steve earned the nickname "Mr. Fix-It" for his ability to mend just about anything, often with duct tape.

Steve's passion for flight soared from hot air balloons and fighter jets to flight simulators. He even took to the skies himself, piloting an airplane for his 40th birthday. When his feet were firmly on the ground, Steve enjoyed friendly competition, playing euchre, racko, and the card game golf.

Drawn to the water, Steve loved spending time skiing and boating. He was also a devoted sports and race fan. He particularly loved cheering on the Indiana Hoosiers, Indiana Pacers, and Indianapolis Colts.

Steve is preceded in death by his father, Richard (Dick) Fisher, and stepfather, Woody Oehlert. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Oehlert, his sisters, Beth Patterson and Karen (Chris) Karr; his children, Jenn (Kevin) Recker, Kellie (Jeremy) Biggs, and Rick (Isabelle) Fisher; his six cherished grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews.

Steve’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Gathering will take place from 1-3pm on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite) – 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250, with a memorial service immediately to follow at 3pm.
