Stephen Christopher Imel

Stephen Christopher Imel, 45, of Fishers, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021.  He was born on August 24, 1975 in Indianapolis to the late Stephen Walter and Cynthia Kay (Eggert) Imel.

Chris was a 1994 graduate of Lawrence North High School.  He learned the electrician’s trade from Wagoner Electric and worked most recently for Cross Electric.  Chris had a big heart and was known to many as a gentle giant.  He was a ball of laughs and always the life of any party.  Chris had an adventurous spirit and said ‘Yes’ to any activity.  He loved to be surrounded by nature, whether that was boating on Geist Reservoir, bass fishing in Martinsville, camping, mountain biking or rock climbing.  Chris enjoyed many relaxing beach vacations and spent time with friends and family.

He met the love of his life, Amy Pund on a blind date and they were married on June 26, 2004; she survives.  Chris is also survived by his brother, Scott (Sherri) Imel; nephew, Dillon Imel; In-laws, Dave and Pat Pund; sister-in-law, Wendy Pund; uncles, Fred Eggert, Ernie (Sandy) Imel and David (Sandy) Imel.  For Chris, his friends were his family, and he also leaves behind his closest buds, Keith Lehigh, Ryan Nolting and Brian Minter.  Also surviving are his canine companions, Hugo & Hefner; feline friends, Cletus, Jethro, Blondie, Birdie, Yella, Blackie, Toe-B; and his sweetheart, Felicia, a green cheek Conure.  Chris was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Landon Imel; and close friend, Todd “Stank” Stankavich.

A funeral service celebrating Chris’s life will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 4pm at Flanner Buchanan – Geist with visitation to follow until 8pm.  Memorial contributions may be given to Community Fairbanks Recovery Center to help those struggling with alcoholism and addiction access treatment, find hope and begin their journey to recovery.
