Stephen Bickel

Stephen Bickel of McCordsville, IN, passed away on April 1, 2026, at the age of 79. He was born in Hartford City, IN, on June 26, 1946, to parents, Delbert and Martelle (Harter) Bickel.

Stephen married Jean Marsh on Dec 18, 1965, together they spent 61 loving years together, she survives. He is survived by children, Stephen “Brad” (Allison) Bickel, Christen Bickel; grandchildren, Marina Bickel, Hannah Mathews, Nick Matthews; siblings, Charles “Lee” (Sharon) Bickel, Dean (Sherry) Bickel. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Bickel.

Steve led a full life, graduating from Indiana Wesleyan College. He was a pastor, then moved on to Westinghouse for 20 years and finally real estate with Marsh Supermarkets for 20 years. He later served on the board at Indiana Wesleyan and volunteered in the community.

Steve's interests were travel, architecture, art and music, running, and country French design.

Steve faced his biggest challenge after a tragic bicycle accident causing him to live out his remaining years paralyzed as a quadriplegic. Steve never waivered in his love of the Lord and his faith.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12pm, Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel (325 E. Carmel Dr. Carmel, IN 46032). A Visitation will take place prior from 10am – 12pm. A graveside service will take place at 1;30pm on April 8, 2026 at Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie, IN.
