Stella Armanis
95, died July 3, 2013. She was born on September 9, 1917, in Rusuna, Latvia, the youngest of nine children. Stella immigrated to the United States in 1949, proudly acquiring citizenship in 1965. A gentle soul, she found joy and beauty in simple things, and loved family, home, and being a homemaker. An expert seamstress from a young age, she retired from L.S. Ayres & Co. as a drapery seamstress. She was a longtime member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She was a loving and devoted mother and is survived by her daughter, Betty Armanis McClure, as well as extended family in this country and in Latvia.
Her siblings and husband, Joseph Armanis, precede her in death. Private visitation and services were held Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple, with entombment at Crown Hill Mausoleum. A Memorial Mass of Celebration will be held at a future date. Betty wishes to thank Dr. Pat Healey and staff at Hooverwood for their genuine care and compassion. Stella loved Hooverwood, and residents and staff loved her, and her beautiful smile. Eventually becoming totally blind, asked if she were granted one wish, what would it be, she replied "to be able to see again, of course!" I am sure God has granted my precious mother her wish.
