Mr. Stanley Augustus Jones, Sr. was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 19, 1940 to parents Rev. William H. Jones and Willa Belle Jones. Stanley attended Indianapolis Public Schools #23, and #17 and Crispus Attucks High School. He played bass drums in the high school marching band. He also played the trumpet. He confessed at a young age. He attended Church of God – Phillips Temple CME Church and also Universal Ministries Worldwide. He sang in a rock and roll group at one time but turned his life and began to sing with The Dennis Freeman Singers. He traveled the country spreading the Word of God in gospel music, which he loved dearly. His profession was a meat cutter for different stores all over the city starting at the age of 16. He ended up working for the Safeway Food Stores and was a very hard working man. He developed the position of District Meat Manager. Everyone enjoyed being around and working with him. He was loved by everyone, employees and customers. He was also on the board of the Black Expo and worked well with the organization. He loved to entertain, travel, sing, dance, car race events, family outings and most of all barbecuing. He was a perfectionist in all he did, especially the ribs. "No doubt they were the best in town". Mr. Stanley Augustus Jones, Sr. made his transition with the Lord October 2, 2013 at the age of 73 years. His parents preceded him with their transition. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Charmaine Jones, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother, Rev. Donald L. Jones, sisters, Rosetta W. Ray, Rev. Audrey M. Jones, Janet L. Jones, Velma M. Frazier Mary E. Jones, William E. Jones, Jr. (preceded him in death), a host of many nieces and nephews and his best friend, Mr. Jimmie Williams.
