Spencer P. Moss, Jr.

Spencer P. Moss, Jr. 90, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021.  He born on June 19, 1931 in Indianapolis, the first of eight children born to the late Spencer P. Moss, Sr. and Eva Fay (Nicely) Moss.

Spencer was a 1949 graduate of T.C. Howe High School and served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.  He was a 35+ year employee of Western Electric and following his retirement in 1985 worked as an assistant for M&M Automotive.  Spencer was a tireless volunteer for the ‘Toys of Love’ program through the telephone Pioneers and devoted many hours serving as a Boy Scout leader.

He is survived by his siblings, Charles Moss of New Palestine, Nancy Prasuhn of Indianapolis, Judith White of Jeffersonville, Alva (Mary) Moss of Cumberland, and Richard (Penny) Moss of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Doris Moss of Fishers; grandchildren, Kristi Moss of Independence, MO, and Shane Mays of Texas; step-daughter, Jackie Barker of Indianapolis; step-grandchildren: Scott (Kari) Winn, Stephanie (Bryan) Adair, and Melinda (Chris) Meyer, all of Indianapolis; several great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Spencer was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 48 years, Sadie (Blaine) Moss; daughters, Vicki Mays and Cindy Moss; and brothers, William Moss and George Moss.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 4-8pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East.  Additional visitation will take place on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 1-2pm, with funeral services immediately following.  Spencer will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife in Washington Park East Cemetery.  The U.S. Army will be present at the cemetery to render Military Honors.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to the charity of the donor’s choice.
