Sotirios, Sam, "Nik" Nikou
passed away on February 25, 2013 following a long illness. Sam was born in Kavala, Greece to George and Kalliopi(Karafios) Nikou on July 11, 1951. He immigrated with his parents to the United States by boat and train, arriving in Indianapolis at Union Station in 1955. He grew up in Irvington. Sam was a fantastic salesman and most of his sales career involved cars. He eventually opened his own business, Classic Cars in Greenwood, Indiana. Sam is survived by his three sons of whom he was so proud. Marcus (Melissa) Nikou, Aaron (Erin) Nikou, and Christian (Katie) Nikou. He also leaves behind four beautiful grandchildren, Alaina and Maddox Nikou and Myka and Rylee Nikou who brought him much happiness. Sam will also be greatly missed by his brothers Anastasios "Erney" Nikou, Kostantinos "Dean" (Heidi) Nikou, niece Kalliopi Nikou and sister-in-law Diana Nikou Dine. He was proceeded in death by his parents George and Kalliopi Nikou. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Wilson St. Pierre Greenwood Chapel, 481 West Main Street & Highway 31 in Greenwood from 4-8 p.m. with the Trisagion at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday February 28, 2013 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 3500 W. 106th Street at 11:00 a.m. with an additional hour of calling at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Flanner and Buchanan-Speedway are handling funeral arrangements.
