Sidney J. Luckett 82, Carmel, IN, passed on to his reward on March 15, 2011. He was orphaned at the age of seven. He and his brothers were raised by his mother's sisters, his uncle and grandfather. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, assigned to the 122nd Fighter Wing of the Indiana National Guard, serving at Alexandria Army Air Base in Alexandria, LA. He was employed at Wheaton Van Lines for 34 years, retiring as a V.P. in 1993. He was a lifetime member and Past Grand Knight of the K of C Council 437. Sidney was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church and a strong supporter of the church's mission to Haiti, traveling there to provide support to St. Joseph's Hospital in Port-au-Prince. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 18 in St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. Family and friends are invited to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 17 in Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Carmel. He is survived by his wife, Virginia L. (Francis) Luckett and five children, Debbie (Richard) Rogers, Michael (Linda) Luckett, Peggy (Jerry) Hull, Joseph Luckett and William (Valerie) Luckett, as well as 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family requests donations be made to St. Joseph's Hospital in care of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church Haiti Mission.
