Shirley Thompson

Shirley Rebecca Thompson, 67, of Indianapolis, passed away on May 30, 2026. She was born in Massillon, Ohio, on September 20, 1958, to the late Frank Henson and Knoxie Olean Stockton Lackey. 

Shirley was a dedicated and hardworking mother who always did her best to provide for her family. She was also a wonderful and loving grandmother who cherished her family deeply. Shirley worked for many years as a machine operator at Magnode. 

She was preceded in death by her brother, Terry Lackey; and her sisters, Stacy Lackey, Connie Childs, and Brenda Mullinix. 

Shirley is survived by her husband Lewis Thompson Sr., children, Marlena Thompson and her partner, Ricky and Lewis Thompson Jr and his wife, Ciera; her grandchildren, Kaylee Thompson and her partner Greg, Kinzli Dickerson, Lewis Thompson III, and RaeLynn Thompson; her siblings, Sue Bentley, Nancy Brown, Jimmy Lackey and his wife, Rita, J.R. Lackey and his wife, Sharon, Marie Manuel and her husband, Carl, Theresa McFarland, Kim Lackey, and Billy Lackey; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. She is also remembered by her beloved grand fur babies, Roo and Jasper, and her great-grand fur babies. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Tabernacle of Faith, 2830 S. Holt Road, Indianapolis, Indiana, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 12:00 p.m. Shirley will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
