Shirley Jean Ross (Edwards), 68, of New Palestine, Indiana, passed away on September 15, 2025. She was born on July 20, 1957, in Indianapolis, IN to Willard Edwards and Bonnie Edwards (Copeland). She graduated from Warren Central High School in 1975. Shirley met the love of her life, Patrick Ross in 1979 and married on February 14, 1981. They shared a legacy of 44 years of marriage.
Shirley dedicated much of her life to serving others. She worked as a school bus driver for many years and later became a CDL trainer, helping others find their path and succeed. She was active in Girl Scouts, a devoted volunteer, and was always the first to lend a hand to those in need. She was also a member of the bell choir, where her love of music brought joy to many. One of her most beloved hobbies was baking her special cookies, a treat her family and friends eagerly looked forward to. Among many other endeavors Shirley had a great passion for scrapbooking, quilting and any other crafts she could personally create, she would always excel at using her creativity.
Known for her warm heart, generosity, and her enduring faith, which was evident in the way she lived each day and how she treated others. Shirley touched countless lives through simple acts of kindness and her sense of compassion.
Shirley spent many hours completing her family lineage, which resulted in finding the missing piece that she felt was lost forever. Doing so opened up the opportunity for Shirley to reconnect with ones she never knew of and allow the opportunity for other family members to connect.
Shirley is survived by her husband Patrick Ross; children Amanda (Clint) Niccum and Ashley Estes (Eric Oliver); grandchildren Grayson and Roan Estes (Garrett Oliver), Noah and Emma Niccum; her brothers and sister; among many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents mentioned above, among many aunts, uncles and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday September 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Washington Park East, located at 10722 E Washington St, Indianapolis. This will be followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
In memory of Shirley Ross, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to a local charity, the Girl Scouts, or any nearby hospital.
