Shirley Mikesell

Shirley JoAnn Mikesell, 81, of Zionsville, IN died April 25, 2012. She was born in Miltonvale, KS on February 14, 1931 to the late Murray Samuel and Bessie Edith (Campbell) Mikesell. Shirley graduated from Belleville High School (Kansas) and Miltonvale Wesleyan College. She received her Masters of Education from University of Northern Iowa and Valparaiso University. Ms. Mikesell was also an accomplished pianist. Shirley was an English teacher with the Hebron, IN School System. She spent most of her adult life in Bradenton, Florida where she became the first woman Commercial Appraiser in the state. Shirley was a member of University Women and the Great Books Society. She will be greatly missed by the loving family who survives her: daughter Bonnie Jo Roberts Elam (Rolin); grandchildren Ryan Lance Elam (Amy) and Shae Nicole Lawson (Rob); great grandchildren Madison, Garrett, and Trey Elam and Jett and Lyric Lawson; and her sister, Marilyn Mikesell; and Marilyn's two sons, Jim and Jeff Ritterhouse. A service celebrating Shirley's life and faith will be held in the chapel at College Park Church, 2606 W 96th St. Indianapolis, IN, 46268 on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 6 pm with visitation from 5pm to 6 pm.
