Shirley Lyday

Shirley M. Lyday, 79 of Carmel, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014. Shirley was born March 6, 1935 In Shelbyville, IN to the late Milton and Nina Rouse. She was a graduate of Manual High School. Shirley worked for Equitable Life Assurance Society, now AXA Equitable for 51 years, retiring in 2005 as assistant to the Executive Vice President. Shirley was active in Special Olympics, serving as co-chairman for several years and helped to raise over $300,000. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, May 14 at Flanner and Buchanan-Carmel, where family and friends are invited to gather from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Shirley is survived by her children, Randy M. Miller, Douglas A. Miller, Kevin E. Lyday, Starlena D. Myers, Richard E. Lyday, Deborah L. Lekens, Larry A. Lyday and Garry L. Lyday; 18 grandchildren; several great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Porter County Special Olympics 980 Portage Ave, Chesterton, IN 46304.
